How I Felt After 7 Days Writing on Medium
This isn’t your ordinary article about practical or how-to tips, this is pure expression.
I’ve been writing on medium for at least a week and I was kinda nervous when I did it. It was very hard for me to do it. I felt full of anxiety, doubt, hesitation, and distrust in the story I had written. For some of you who may read this, this is what it feels like when you start your writing journey, and actually, those feelings are okay.
A brilliant writer somehow can’t have a piece of writing masterpiece just in one night. The process they maybe had was more severe than us. They may start with higher bad feelings than we ever do. I write just to inform you that anyone who wants to start their journey on this platform is to start often.
My first initial writing is about the lessons I had learned in my 20s. This story will tell you about my experience as a person in my 20s, things that happened to me, and what I actually learned. After seeing my very first article get published (of course self-published on medium), I worried I couldn’t impress the readers.
But after that I realized one thing, if I write to impress the readers, then I can’t forever continue to write anymore. So I have to change my mindset and purpose.
I asked my inner-self this:
What is it, my true motive, so that I would write every day?
After reflecting on that question only, I finally found what drove me to write every day and to start now.
I said it to my inner-self:
I would write to express my ideas, my experiences, my struggle, my lessons, and to self-heal from the harsh reality which hit me harder than everything.
Seven days have passed since I started writing on this platform and I couldn’t be happier because I start now. It is never too late to start. You, the ones who should be afraid if you don’t start now.
7 days of writing on the medium have taught me that this platform is pure. Either you want to write for the money, fame, relationships, or portfolio, or just to share your ideas, it’s okay as long as you don’t cause great harm to everyone.
Express your feelings already.
Who cares what people say about your writing. If there’s positive criticism, take it as a part of your journey to become a skilled writer. If it’s negative, just leave it forever. Negative people aren’t worth your time and attention.
Challenge also works if you want to write and keep on doing it every day. Try to give yourself a challenge that will push you up beyond your comfort zone. It is also going to give you a boost and motivate you to keep on your purpose.
Maybe next week, I will try to double the articles I want to publish. One for self-publish and one for well-known or established publishers. I want to see how far I will stay on the track. Will I derail? Or will I arrive at the finish line?
I hope this article could inspire and spark your way through the journey of becoming an excellent writer. Have a purpose and the right mindset to keep going and just believe everything you’ll do is going to be great and result in splendid success later.
